Hello world!

Fireside Chat

Hi there! My name is Benjamin Borden. I have been trading in and out of stocks for around 10 years now. I have had my ups and downs but as the years go on I have been getting wiser. And not just with stocks. I also have other investing experience which I draw on heavily to color my view of the stock market.

One other “entity” I love to invest in is Real Estate. From this I have learned careful use of debt and leverage – coming to see the bank as a capital partner more than some mysterious source of funds that you use and forget about. With respect to debt in stock trading I do not recommend using margin. But you still have to have a good understanding of debt since virtually all companies that have public stock use some form of debt instrument in their normal course of business.

Another “entity” I love to invest in is Private Partnerships in green energy tech. This has given me experience in how companies are structured in the private space & the VC space before they ever hit the stock markets (when they do this is called an “exit strategy”). This has given me insight as to how the penny stock sector works and the pitfalls and opportunities presented therein.

The stock market is a big game. I like games. But like all games it ends up teaching you more about yourself, how you perceive things, than anything else.

In this blog, which I started for friends, I will pass along my own stock trading information: what I am investing in in my own portfolio (stock market only!). I am somewhat vulnerable therefore in exposing myself when I take a loss – and there will be losses. However, I hope what comes out of this will be a chance to learn, both for you and for myself. Oh yeah – I expect there will be a few big wins along the way that will more than make up for the losses.

Happy trading!
