BENJAMIN BORDEN
I have written a few short ebooks entitled “How I Invest in the Stock Market” and “How I use Stops”. Although not definitive works of literature, they contain some good information on my own personal strategies. If you subscribe to my mailing list (to the right) —–> you can get access to these ebooks completely FREE! Also as a subscriber I’ll update you from time to time when I think something significant is happening in the market.

TIM SYKES
Tim Sykes became famous several years ago for successfully turning a small fortune into a big one by profiting (legally) from pump and dump scams in penny stocks. Tim’s main strategy is to identify the best P&Ds, and then bang out small quick gains on the short side. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) there is a never ending supply of this “product”. This is a very unique strategy and is not for everyone. But even if you do not intend to use it you should learn something about the dark underbelly of the investing world so that you can recognize a pump when you see it. Also Tim’s lessons on shorting apply to almost all stocks regardless of market cap. You will become a much wiser investor learning this.

STAN WEINSTEIN’s Secrets For Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets
Written in the 1980s, Stan’s book has become the bible for many technical traders around the world. Stan is famous for his saying “the tape tells all” – meaning that fundamental analysis is already done for you if you can learn to read the subtleties of a chart. This book at around $20 is probably worth a $20,000 course – if you diligently work at and apply the concepts within. There are even quizzes at the end of every chapter to make sure you get it. Read this one over and over again.

STOCKCHARTS.COM
There’s lots of good charting sites out there, but I find Stockcharts.com most useful. You can build your own charts to identify short medium and long term trends with all the important technical indicators at your disposal. Basic service is free!

INTERACTIVE BROKERS
Look, I’ll be blunt here…a lot of brokers suck. Ridiculous fees, poor trade execution, clunky trading software, visible stops…the list goes on and on. I won’t say who sucks, but I can tell you who doesn’t suck – Interactive Brokers. If you’re going to get serious about this business you might as well start using a serious trading platform.

Well that should be enough to get you started. I’ll update these recommendations from time to time so check back soon. Good luck!
